Marina Andrijčić-Ojeda
Astoria, NY

ARTIST STATEMENT: Marina Andrijčić-Ojeda {b. Miami, Florida, 1989} is a New York based multi-disciplinary artist of Croatian and Peruvian descent. From her upbringing she’s acquired a keen observation of the landscape around her, and a curiosity of what else lies beyond. She is motivated by the connectivity she encounters in certain corners of the world, her energy to create is contingent on shifts in landscape and circumstance. In artistic practice, Marina’s work tends to stem from a heritage-based context in flux with the compulsion to describe and embody a closeness to her surroundings. She works to combine her fastidious nature with the looser content of self-documented, delicate, and naturally occurring moments to which she feels in deep harmony. She is the co-founder and co-director of The Penitentiary, a collaborative site-specific series taking place in Eastern Europe. She has curated multiple exhibitions featuring a dozen artists worldwide.
