ARTIST STATEMENT: Artist’s objective
I plan to create a series of new works: constructions in space. The three-dimensional pieces will share with my two-dimensional art-works basic concerns, such as the emphasis on the artistic instinct, the search of new materials, and the intense erotic and metaphysical element.
“The parts and the body” is the title of the new series, a subject frequently dealt with in ancient Greek philosophy. My goal is to conceptually link this abstract philosophical issue with contemporary reality.
America, especially New York, is pluralistic and multicultural, a place full of symbols, shapes, textures, colors, and sounds. All these elements compose an enormous ethnological global mosaic, worth discovering and expressing through the artistic language of signs.
The body represents the “country” that constantly moves, inhales and lives, while harmonically composing its various parts into a dynamic symphony.
My goal is to activate the viewer’s mind into a symbolic reading of the works in order that he or she may find further hidden meanings, functioning on a personal and social level.
