ARTIST STATEMENT: In my installation work I form abstracted landscapes made of discarded materials, drawing upon patterns from nature, such as air turbulence, ocean currents, turbid water and sediments. Taken from my studio practice and from every-day life, the materials include found objects like torn plastic bags or throw-away synthetic gloves I used for painting, scraps of my drawings, and fragments of photos depicting life from my day-to-day experiences in the city. The accumulated fragments are like coded messages or layered memories. Each layer documents a particular moment in time and only up-close it is possible to discover the hidden content underneath. Together, the textured layers evoke the feeling of found-objects or trash filled with suggested narratives.
