Video & Photography from the series Sunny Haiti.
I make original abstract paintings, drawings, collage and sculpture.
Abstract painter working in oil and mixed media.
Photographs that attempt to solve the visual complexity of the urban experience, overlaid by
my cultural displacement and personal views.
Covert's work is built upon the universal foundation of the inevitable occurrence of loss and how
that impacts us as individuals and a species.
Documenting humans and how they interact with each other and their environments. A focus on
musicians, artists and other underdogs with promising futures.
I’m a Brooklyn-based photographer who documents the life of old cars, abandoned or disused space
and cultural oddities. I am drawn to urban spaces whose usefulness or function has transformed.
I paint small abstract, vaguely psychedelic gouaches.
Painting, Collage, and Installation
Stone Carvings, Mixed Media and Digital Collage
It is just an illusion we have...that one moment follows another one, like beads on a string,
and that once a moment is gone it is gone forever." - Billy Pilgrim
Oil on Canvas and mixed media on paper.
Work is assertive, colorful and full of movement--it is a figurative internal diary.
One of my artistic interests is painting and sculpting portraits. The face represents the most recognizable and familiar part of the anatomy that connect us as human beings.
From the New York Times:
"Peter J. Ketchum knows how to get the viewer's
attention. Shown widely around the country, his
pictures commingle colors, situations,
commentary and mediums in a manner that is
provocative, funny and to the point."
