Margaret Noel
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Gowanus

ARTIST STATEMENT: My most recent body of work uses cut paper layered with encaustic and soot to trace the gradual reconstruction of a city after a natural disaster. These salvaged materials are reassembled into forms that are both timeless and transient.

I start each image by drawing on site. These plein air drawings then become the basis for a series of paintings that fuse traditional techniques with new media.
