Carol B. Radsprecher
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Brooklyn Heights

ARTIST STATEMENT: My overriding intention is to make thought-provoking and eye-delighting images. The images in my Photoshop drawings/prints (as well as my paintings) reference the human body—specifically, the female body, that first landscape to greet us when we come into the world. I have been a painter for many years. Five or so years ago I began to experiment with drawing and “painting” in Photoshop. I became (and remain) enthralled with the seemingly infinite possibilities inherent in this digital medium. I work in varied series of narrative images (in Photoshop). The speed in which images can evolve while earlier versions can be retained; the ability to incorporate into the drawings images photographed from the three-dimensional world; the ethereal nature of computer-based work—all of these qualities (and others unmentioned here) have made digital printmaking an extremely stimulating and productive way for me to make work. All of the prints were drawn in Photoshop; many have elements of my original photos, also done in Photoshop. Each drawing is one of an extended series in which the sequence of images shows the viewer the evolution of ideas and narrative within that series.
