ARTIST STATEMENT: I am an interdisciplinary artist whose work challenges the politics of place and identity within our physical and digital worlds through site-specific performance, intervention, installation, photography, video, text, sculpture, and web-based media. Working at the intersection of art & life I insert myself and my work into real-time social systems such as Google’s search engines in my project The Googlegänger, protest rallies at the Republican National Conventions in Rec-elections, a gerrymandered NY State Senate District in Re-Districting, and the Whitney Museum in Less Lethal Solutions to construct and transmit new narratives into the public realm that reveal the built ideologies and power structures lying beneath them. In doing so my work unearths a space where the public is challenged to question the status quo and envision alternative realities and histories. I believe that by inserting my work and myself into the everyday, opportunities in the public sphere can be seized to ask critical questions through radical poetics, push the gesture of production beyond art, and affect social change in our Information Age.
