Ben Knight
Brooklyn, NY

ARTIST STATEMENT: I graduated from Long Island University in 2001 with a BFA, for a few years I was in group shows around the New York City area and did a solo show in Brooklyn. I did some major art projects, though my work felt as if it needed more contemplation and a more systemic, sustainable approach to making, showing and storing artwork. I took a leave from producing work, and worked on drawings for 5 years and also did experiments in my studio. During this time I went to Pratt and received a masters degree in Design Management, this program which mostly focused on “the identification and allocation of creative resources for sustainable advantage” this helped tremendously and gave new meaning to the direction which I must travel as a Fine Artist. In late 2009 I had an open studio that was well received. In 2010, I have been in several group shows around NYC and one in Minnesota, which showed off my new body of work.
