ARTIST STATEMENT: I am curious. I seek the world for solutions but only listen with one ear. I am concerned with the hierarchical structure of humanity and it’s tendency to destroy and dominate natural ecosystems. I am also concerned with the merciless standard of communication. My work craves to exhibit an unbiased, universal language and employs earthen materials such as soil, seeds, clay, water and fruits to counterbalance society’s emphasis on evolving technologies. The organic materials possess a universal sacredness that is commonly overlooked.
For several years, I desperately sought a theory/fact/event that unified humanity and it’s origin. I grew fascinated with String Theory and spent several exhausting months attempting to comprehend quantum physics. I ultimately determined that my ill comprehension of quantum mechanics would not suffice and began to create personal mythologies through performance.
Since 2006, I have experimented with narrative, metaphorical and durational performance around the country. I continue to seek an emotional exchange with the viewer in both traditional and non-traditional exhibition settings.
My recent works address the growing sum of environmental disasters and humanity’s general indifference towards these self-imposed crises.
