"A Trail of Pigment" is an exploration into the culture of natural color from Kerala to Rajasthan in India. Parris Jaru and Kiritin Beyer travel to discover the many provenances of natural colors. Sandalwood, Turmeric, Indigo and many other elements are used to create dyes and paints. From an Ayurveda forest in Kerala to the Ran of Kuch near the Pakistani border, they discover traditional techniques as well as more modern ways elements of the earth are used, from Visual Arts to healing techniques. The coloring of saris, sheets, blankets as well as walls and canvas is a very old tradition in India, which is continued until this day through the colors we paint our world. From the artists palette to the our newly remodeled home, color is an integral part of every society worldwide, now and then.
