Meredith Caliento
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Coney Island

ARTIST STATEMENT:
there are themes that have continually found their way into my work... such as beauty that has aged or decayed; the passing of time; imperfection; and the relationship that we, as humans, have with our mother earth. sometimes, i will go looking for images to make. i will walk around with my camera, looking for metaphors and beautiful light. other times, those things find me. my most recent work was created in coney island, and is, more or less, about coney island. as a resident, i spend most of my free time strolling the beaches and boardwalks. while my traditional themes always wind their way through my work, this collection celebrates coney island's diversity.
