Bryan Krueger
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Crown Heights

ARTIST STATEMENT: I am interested in making the viewer self conscious of the very act of looking at these flat objects, which have the immense power to embower the viewer in a displacing illusion. This self-consciousness creates a disconcerting break in the reading of the photograph – one that dissolves the presence (and intention) of the straight photograph into something more flexible. I like the idea of enacting the viewer’s gaze in the completion of a composition that has missing parts and in the recognition of repeating themes and forms within the work at large.
