Emily K. Berger
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Gowanus

Media:Drawing; Ink; Painting;

ARTIST STATEMENT: My work is either explicitly or implicitly grid based. I work in an intuitive, meditative and deliberate way erasing and layering over time. I am interested in light and movement and the interaction of structure and gesture, chance and control, openness and containment.The pieces here are mostly oil on wood panels or ink on paper from the last two years. In many of them the color and texture of the support and underlayers of primer and paint are integral parts of the work and reveal aspects of my process.
