TEACHING EXPERIENCE

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago Chicago, IL (2004-2010)

ADJUNCT ASSISTANT PROFESSOR. Developed and taught undergraduate courses in the Department of Fiber and Material Studies, including Introduction to Fiber and Material Studies, The Human Image, Print for Fiber and Material Studies, and Stitch I & II.

Lillstreet Art Center Chicago, IL (2003-2010)

DIRECTOR. Managed the Textile Art Department; scheduled courses, hired and managed teachers, coordinated classrooms and materials, developed new classes. Developed the department from a small entity with one classroom to a thriving community with three classrooms, over 12 teachers, a wide variety of classes, and a strong following of students.

TEACHER. Taught Textile Art Classes including Surface Design, Embellishment, The Stitched Narrative, Stripes and Polka Dots, Resist Dyeing, Drawing Repeats, Embroidery I and II, Fold Clamp Dye Print Flag! and First Time Screen-printing on Fabric. Worked with a wide range of adult students including artists and amateurs.

Columbia College Chicago, IL (2007-2008)

INSTRUCTOR. Taught classes in the Fine Arts Department including 2D Design. Developed and taught a new class; The Subversive Stitch to expand the Contemporary Sculptural Practices division.

Cornell College Mt. Vernon, IA (2005)

LECTURER. Taught 2D Design through the Art Department. Worked with liberal arts students. Introduced students to a wide range of making skills, as well as a vocabulary of art and a new way of looking.

McHenry County College Crystal Lake, IL (2003)

INSTRUCTOR. Taught Fiber Art through the Art Department. Worked with Continuing Education adults and Associate degree seeking students. Introduced a wide range of on and off loom techniques including embroidery, crochet, coiling, plaiting, and weaving. Developed a new slide library of fiber works.
