I have lived and worked in New York City for over 25 years, painting and being creative in making ways to pay for studio rental and life and was Involved in the East Village scene of the early ‘80s. However, it was after living in Rome for a year in the late 80’s, that a more conceptual approach to my work took hold, come about as a result of limited space. I started a series of postcard related and postcard-sized work that were about the perception of scale and the relationship between artwork and viewer. Building on observations around this interaction led me to create artwork that functioned on multiple levels - from the image itself to how it uses the assumptions made by the viewer.
Through the years I have continued painting and being involved in many cross-disciplinary projects. For the last eight years I have been responsible for the graphic design and installation at a contemporary design retail space in Brooklyn that at times has included several of my pieces in group shows.
