ARTIST STATEMENT:

I am a visual ventriloquist. My site-specific, kinetic installations use light and shadow to create photographic sight in sculptural space. In my work, primitive projectors made of simple lights and lenses displace and reposition images, helping me question the relationship between object and shadow, invention and memory.

A spotlight, a rotating bundle of sticks, and a cut-out silhouette of a horse taped to a small mirror combine to create 'Stampede.' The glowing image of galloping horses is a continuous projection of one fractured reflection. Because the image of the stampede lands on a long piece of tracing paper, it can be viewed from front and back, with horses running left or right. This installation was created in the Maxon Mills at the Wassaic Project in Wassaic, NY.

Lights, a fan, a lens, a table and a roll of tracing paper.

Glitter, paper, motor, spotlight, found objects. Installation view Show #7, The Parlour Bushwick, Brooklyn, 2013.

Spotlights and a rotating bundle of liquid-filled freezer-pop packets give color and form to a shifting nebula of light that is both a gigantic screen saver come to life and a kind of homemade aurora borealis.
