ARTIST STATEMENT: A multi-disciplinary artist, my practice is concept-specific. Whether permanent, temporary or somewhere in between, my small studies on paper, digital animations, and large scale public projects invariably revolve around the concept of space. As I strive to understand a location in terms of how it looks, feels and behaves, I investigate the space and its borders, their functions, and its general psychology. Rather than working within or outside a particular location, my approach is to work with it. Throughout the creative process, as I make decisions about medium, scale, color and composition, I look and listen for the specifics that define the space. It's an ongoing dialogue about materials and aesthetics, purpose and function - and on larger projects also budget. Whether it is virtual, psychological, or actual-physical, my final work is always a meditation color, light, and emplacement within the space.
