ARTIST STATEMENT: Eco artist photographer creating macro imagery from materials found in Fort Greene Park. I have been working in this medium for a little less than a year. I discovered my love for it when I friend gave me the gift of a canon g12. I was obsessed with capturing the beauty of the sun directly in photographs but became dismayed when the manual said not to point the lens directly into the sun. I began to look for ways to capture the sun in reflection and I started by first taking the suns image in puddles. From there the work expanded with the materials in the park, ginkgo leaves, puddles, dead flowers, broken glass, found feathers....and I used various surfaces and substances to continue to explore natures reflection on itself. I want to capture the forgotten beauty of the decaying life and how it continues to renew itself constantly. I shoot in macro to represent the small, wondrous worlds that surround us, that ARE us. My goal is to have the participants have an emotional response while looking at the work as well as, perhaps, a spiritual one. None of the images are altered beyond contrast or color enhancement.
