ARTIST STATEMENT: Art is a lifelong journey of inquiry, reflection and transformation. My work consists of three parallel on-going projects: video, drawing and an astronaut in an indeterminate state. Be it a video that unveils, re-contextualizes and negotiates the state of things and meaning from a mixture of original and found footages or a drawing based on improvisation and controlled randomness or a dislocated and out of control astronaut floating in space, these works explore in-between or transitional spaces, meditate and embrace on the indeterminate, ambiguous and vulnerable side of our everyday existence.

Single-Channel 1:39 mins 1920 x 1080 HD Video includes clips captured from Youtube of Taiwan's 1971 film "You Can't Tell Him". Audio edits from "What Do You Want? (Kim)" by Kim Gordon, Dj Olive, Ikue Mori "Line" combines videos captured from Youtube with original footage. I was intrigued by the visually annoyed black lines in this bad Youtube transfer of the well known 1971 film from Taiwan and wondering how I could use it in my work. Through editing and reworking both video and audio, an interwoven, re-contextualized A/V began to emerge that eventually led me to transform visual disturbance and spatial division to something reflective.
