ARTIST STATEMENT: Nature and the environment around me have always been a source of inspiration for my creative side. For years, I made fabric art, dying my own fabric and when I started using wax as a resist with fabrics, I became fascinated with the process. These endeavors led me to explore more with wax and eventually the world of encaustics became my method of expression. Sometimes, I use silk organza. Working with beeswax gives such a rewarding experience from the smell of the wax to the warmth and satisfaction of shining the finished surface by rubbing over it. I sometimes use images of leaves and flowers or eco-dyed paper to begin my works. Other times, I use India inks to paint on the boards before adding the encaustic medium. I hope you enjoy my presentation of works here. My fiber art can be seen on my website and is not displayed on this site.
