Pamella Allen
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Bensonhurst

ARTIST STATEMENT: Statement I come from a long line of "Natural Mystic Storytellers". The process of recycling and layering my own images and life stories creates a fertile mix to investigate the place of memory and emotion in my works that are constantly inspired by our earthly/spiritual human condition and the recurring theme of life and death and life. In my works I explore the motion of form, the written word, color and texture that are created with the recycled artifacts of my own life. All of my works are prayers and implorations ; they are observations on humanity and our interactions with one another in all of our landscapes . Bio "A world traveler, community advocate, educator, and mentor, Pamella Allen is most of all, an artist with an agenda. After spending several years living and working in Africa, India, Europe and sailing the North Atlantic, the Aegean and the Caribbean, Ms. Allen set up her studio in Brooklyn, where she has created some of her most powerful work to date. Her stirring and insightful works have been featured in galleries around the globe and hang in private homes on several continents. It is in her mission to bring art into the community that Pamella worked on diverse projects such as the TED Inside Out project and the Sonya Studio Stroll in Fort Green and Clinton Hill. As a teaching artist, Ms. Allen continues to inspire her students to greater creativity and dialog ."
