ARTIST STATEMENT: At the moment I am interested in conveying a sense of continuity, as if it was possible to exceed the limit of the canvas and the image was a link between past and future. I only use black and white because this helps me to focus on the structure of the image.
A series of paintings based on a Courbet's picture ( Demoiselles Au Bord De La Seine-Patite Palais- Paris) is also focused on structure: I isolated a detail, an eye of the white dressed woman, which I felt was the focus of the whole painting. If initially this was an attempt to explore behind that gaze and its meaning, retracing Courbet’s steps made me discover that that eye is built as mechanism where every detail corroborates the other in a machine-like way. This process allowed me to fantasize and interpret that microcosm in my own way.
The organic world and the mystery of its way of functioning is also present in my other abstract paintings.
