ARTIST STATEMENT: Through the use of my body as both subject and medium, I submerge into my physical surroundings creating psychological and physical dialogues of various dichotomies such as: alive versus inanimate, vulnerability versus strength, and past versus present. I express these oppositions non-verbally through the use of movement, and dance. Immersed in my environment, allows a simultaneous adaptation of both the participant and audience. I am able to not only become the work through my body; but also view the work as my surroundings.
In a recent work titled Tastes Like More, I create a dichotomy between greed and hunger, producing a disgusting eating machine. Starting off possibly hungry, my greed and desire takes over as I continue to eat. My initial compulsions are confused and lost, as I cannot stop eating. Dialogues of the intensity, ridiculousness, and power of greed is actualized.
