Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Sunset Park

ARTIST STATEMENT: My practice combines photography, sculpture, installation, performance, and video. I explore issues of violence, social taboos, political conflicts and human behaviors by deconstructing iconic cultural imagery as a form of critique and analysis. Elaborating on my curiosity and speculation around documented past, I create mixed media installations, which interrogate human conditions. I employ historical archives and art history as raw materials to provoke a dialogue around body and gender politics, desire, and power dynamics while exposing the absurdity of the societal constructs via sculpted objects, photography and video positioned in spatial and multidisciplinary environments. Through my work and research, I attempt to comprehend the origins of human violence, by taking on the roles of victims and executioners as well as tormenters and tyrants. I hope to awaken the imagination of the spectators while offering a space for self-reflection and contemplation.
