Holli McEntegart
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Gowanus

ARTIST STATEMENT: My work explores the storage and transmission of memory, myth and experience. Winding strange pathways between personal narratives, site-specific histories, dreams and scars, I employ varied esoteric practices and performance-based ritual to better understand my encounters with these stories and their residue, both inside and outside of my body.

Conceptually I’m interested in mapping our very human engagement with the intersections of real and imagined experience using performance, video, sculpture and installation. While metaphysically, my projects are connected by mysterious and magical trajectories that have an indeterminate beginning and ending. It is this experience of not knowing that connects us with the concept of the transcendent and unknowable.
