Jason R Bauer
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Crown Heights

ARTIST STATEMENT: The development of my current artistic process stems from an attraction to physical movement and activities with a subsequent lack of focus on communication. I believe I am somewhat of a “jock” at heart, perhaps at times lacking verbal intellect, however I am drawn to audio and visual stimulation. I have always been drawing, building, collecting, dismantling, and arranging what intrigues my imagination. Some of my inspirations are; architecture/space, light, sound, energy, and social interactions. My desire to collect things stimulates my desire to make things, and in-turn stimulates my desire to organize the things I make. It is this cycle that contributes to the work I create. I have adopted an eclectic style of work that contains elements of humor, minimalism, fluidity, movement, and spontaneity. My work exists in multiple parts that are organized, altered, reorganized, and eventually displayed as paintings/sculptures, installations, videos, sounds, and/or photographs. In no particular order - the things I am currently interested to work with include; documentation, people, places, found objects, paint, glass, wood, light, sound, and water.
