ARTIST STATEMENT: My imagination is ignited by artifacts and magical beliefs of ancient cultures. Drawing on a psychology degree and research for teaching in Met Museum galleries; art-making with clay is my favorite response to personal life events, wishes, and dreams. Recycling found objects and found papers; smoke-firing on my studio roof deck, reminds me that nothing is ever only what it at first seems to be... Picking up my earlier focus, new works include viewer interaction. A residency last summer connected me to a collaborator for updating my formerly low-tech Magic Lady installation with digital electronic technology.
