Julia Justo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She lives in New York.
She combines digital technology, painting and collage to create mixed media works.
She often work from vintage pictures that she manipulates with modern technology. These old images give her work a sense of history, she uses them to illustrate the flow of time and to throw light on current social conflicts.
She had said that present social struggles remain from what came before and the role of the artist is to give society the tools to resist discrimination and to protest all other injustices.
Julia received an M.F.A from The National University of Argentina. She also studied watercolor and restoration in Rome, Italy.
She has exhibited in Buenos Aires, Rome and New York.
