ARTIST STATEMENT: Nordman's aim as an artist is to let her simple, humble human life and art-making dissolve into one interconnected entity where both enrich and feed each other. Her aim is also to present her knowledge of a female body and mind, and become more conscious of women's possibilities and skilled in sharing that information. The aim of her artistic practice is to cultivate poetry and explore humanity.
Nordman's mediums are dance, choreography and video.

Sari Nordman, a native of Finland, is a freelance dancer-choreographer and video-artist. She has presented her work for Atlantic Center for the Arts, AUNTS, Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance!, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Center for Performance Research, Columbia University, CounterCurrent Festival, Danspace Project, Dixon Place, FiveMyles Gallery, The Irondale Center, Movement Research at the Judson Church, SHIMFinland at Odetta Gallery, Performance Mix Festival and Triskelion Arts, among other venues in the US; TsakBam Festival in Greece, and for Alpo Jaakola Statuary Park, Dance Theater Hurjaruuth, Full Moon Dance Festival, Pop & Jazz Conservatory and Zodiak in Finland.

Her film work has been presented at Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance!, Dance Film Lab Moderated Screening at Gibney Dance Center, Dixon Place, FiveMyles Gallery, The Irondale Center, SHIMFinland at Odetta Gallery, Performance Mix Festival, SPARK Summer Film Fest, Triskelion Arts and UnSpace Gallery in the US; ViDEOSKiN at The Edge Gallery in Canada; TsakBam Festival in Greece; Acid! Live! @ Merikerho, Alpo Jaakola Statuary Park, Eckerö Post and Customs House and Teatteri Avoimet Ovet in Finland; and at Radical Heritage in India..

Her film Assimilation was selected for Women Cinemakers 2018 Biennial Edition.

She has enjoyed residencies at Atlantic Center for the Arts, Bearnstow, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Fantasy Generator at Hollins University and Tofte Lake Center in the US, Eckerö Post and Customs House, Loimaan Taidetalo and Zodiak Z Free in Finland, and Solo works @ 77 in Greece.

She has worked as a dancer with Dean Moss on several of his productions since 2009. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree from New York University�s Tisch Dance Department.

Most recently she has received funding from the American Scandinavian Society and Finlandia Foundation National to support her art-making.
