Anderson Correa de Araujo
Brooklyn, NY

ARTIST STATEMENT: In contemporary art we have infinite possibilities. The power of the idea, the uniqueness of the poetic, the ineffable. My art grows in several ways: painting, drawing, photography and video. I received an award for video art that reveals a surreal everyday reality. Since March 2015 I have been living in New York, to invent a new reality, rediscovering grace, humor, courage and beauty by the same values that guide my life: freedom, equality, justice and creativity. I graduated with a degree in Visual Arts, which intensified my interest in history, culture, sociology, diversity, and ecology. From an early age in Brazil, living close to nature, I discovered the enchantment of life, from the micro to the macro. The passion for freedom and creativity, the moment we are genuinely human. A life close to nature showed me the value of contemplation, the simplicity, and the greatness in small things. Less is more. The photographs that I wish to show in your gallery follow this path. The beauty, the poetry, the singular extracted from the seemingly ordinary: A simple tangerine generating different images, bodies, worlds, through delicacy, sensitivity and imagination.
