ARTIST STATEMENT: It continues to come as no surprise that many people are grossly abusing positions of power. Certain individuals are perceived to be immovable objects—super-powered human beings who operate with impunity and seem impervious to challenge and consequence.

This dark cultural and behavioral phenomenon thrives within a system that has been structured to keep these individuals powerful and others weak. When we attack these people, we see the system start to shift, is actually changeable and that we can create real change.

Our latest body of work is an examination of, “the transfiguration of super-powered culture.” We use superheroes to represent the system and the people who operate within it. Altering them in a way that celebrates the idea that their strength is in question, and by continuing to break them apart there’s a chance that real change will be made.
