Kimmy Quillin
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Fort Greene

Media:Painting;

ARTIST STATEMENT: Kimmy Quillin has been wearing glasses since the fourth grade. In 2006 she moved to New York, a busy city often more easily taken in without the crystalizing focus of corrective lenses. In 2008, she ran out of contacts and went for a year without seeing the world with 20/20 clarity. Using this fuzzy, forgiving mode of misperception to her advantage, she is able to focus on the interplay of colors between buildings, skylines, clothing and streets. Whether abstract or figurative, paint, pencil or paper, her work echoes this color field version of reality which she frequently prefers. Kimmy lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
