ARTIST STATEMENT: My practice involves multiple artistic mediums, such as sculpture, painting, tapestry, neon and expands to curating and writing. It focuses on transitional, “liquid” state of today's social forms and deals with the fragility of current value systems. Physical nature of materials I choose highlights temporal conditions and question the mechanisms of our perception. Pigmented plaster sculptures mimic found concrete remnants while being rigorously hand produced; they address once solid ideas of “home” and “place.” The paintings depict architecture and mimic pixelated vintage photographs, questioning historical “truth.” The tapestries are translations of my paintings and sculptures and they become free-standing three-dimensional objects, expanding the possibilities of the work itself to exist in various identities.
