Karen Nielsen
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Greenpoint

ARTIST STATEMENT: If our dreams process our waking life, so must our life process our dreams. Somewhere in between lies our hidden reality. An amalgamation of both. My music, videos and 2D artworks represent that place. Sometimes it is beautiful, sometimes it is disturbing. Sometimes comic, often tragic. Each video tells its own unique story and each still image, captures a moment of that story. They are reverence for this life and redemption from its perils. They are expressions of this vastly disturbing, complicated and unbalanced world. Pondering issues of gender inequality, violence, race and identity.
