The Identity Talk Series is back for another amazing event and this time we are entering the world of cartoons and illustrations. Join Brown Girl Club, Obsidian Esthetic, and our amazing guest artists: Hab Oh (@habtoons), Christina Rai (@yeahitschill), & Calyn Pickens Rich (@drcalyn) for bites and conversation as we explore how societal ideals about race and gender influences the world of fantasy in the upcoming event "Re-Imagining Cartoons and Illustrations" Thursday, October 11 from 7 - 10 pm at The Drama League. The Afroterrestrials Exhibition

August-22-2018 – September-30-2018

Grandchamps Artist Spotlight gives artists a space to display their creations as well as a platform to tell their stories. We seek artists of the community in order to support and showcase local talent.

Hab Oh is an illustrator and teaching artist from Brooklyn, NY. His passion for visual art was nurtured at a young age, leading this hobby to become a professional career and the founding of the "Habtoons" brand in 2009. Hab's work centers around themes of race, identity, surrealism, and horror crafting a unique visual experience that challenges the perspective of what "black art" can be. The Afroterrestrials (2017-Present) is a collection of illustrations highlighting extraterrestrial Black women in their every-day lives, each piece a vignette into deeper narratives subverting the stereotypical and often common imagery seen in current day cartoons and comic books.

Join us for the opening of the exhibit which will include an exclusive Q+A with the artist.
