Nicholas Oh
Brooklyn, NY
Neighborhood: Sunset Park

ARTIST STATEMENT: As an artist I make art that deal with race and identity to provoke and challenge the audience to question their own ideas about past and current social issues. By creating and destroying clay replicas of Confederate statues, my aim is to explores changes in the statues' meaning through time and history. While many believe these statues were built to commemorate fallen soldiers during the Civil War, I investigate deeper into their roles in oppression and terror. My work reflects my multicultural view of the American society as a Korean American.
