ARTIST STATEMENT: My artwork are created mostly with African fabrics. I design costumes, clothing, bags, shoes, jewelry and rugs with fabric. However; my signature pieces are the African Print Patchwork Quilts because they are labor intensive. The work is a puzzle and I have to fit pieces in evenly to create a flow of consistency. I began my journey collecting discarded pieces of African Fabrics. Cutting, coordinating and blending the pieces to marry and coexist to create a colorful exploration into mosaic collage. The designs and colors create a constant flow, they are recycled pieces of fabric that are rebirth and transformed with a new life of colorful quilts.
