Drawings are portals into endless expanse and black holes. I am interested in converting these
daily, ordinary effects into repetitive, psychedelic abstractions, creating depth and sublime from
Gaskonís work focuses on dividing lines, such as geopolitical boundaries or social barriers. Through
the use of video, painting, performance, sound and objects, her work addresses the notions of
identity and immigration.
In my work I establish a sense of a place without being a specific location, by applying a myriad of
crisscrossing lines overlapping and juxtaposed with shapes that allude to topographic and ancient
hand made maps of cities.
In this series of drawings I reference the body directly by using hair as the impetus for my forms. I
play with color, form and abstraction while exploring the hairs subjective properties as a cheap
commodity and personal signifier.
