My work utilizes my biography not only to explore personal experience but also to provide a lens for the persistent effects of social institutions and cultural practices on the individual. Addressing everything from immigration to sexuality
I am an emerging book & mixed media artist, and the natural world inspires me. The book arts
provide an endlessly flexible form which allows me to incorporate multiple art techniques and
personal interests. I delight in urban wilderness.
My works are meditations on the search for balance between the inner and outer world, and on the perception of our impermanence; a reflection on the universality of the human experience, and on the necessity for a radical reverence for life
Berke is a Brooklyn based artist and illustrator. With drawn lines that overlay swaths of color, Berke's work explores instinctive color play and drawn images that study human gesture and how people document their lives in photographs.
I shoot overlapping multiple exposure photography, panoramic in shape, with a plastic camera (Holga). These unplanned juxtapositions capture my experience of a particular time and place and at the same time have an identity all their own.
