Caldwell makes sculpture installations and collage-based paintings from reclaimed and collected
materials, that speak anywhere from architecture to botany. Strong color and an ephemeral nature
are consistent in her work.
The explores the collusion between nature and science.
Based on nature's sculptured forms Campbell induces new
definitions through fragmented objects, bending forms, concepts
and connotations of the everyday natural systems.
My paintings construct spaces that contain opposing ideas; vast natural environments contained
through architecture, ephemeral landscapes seen through graphic screens, imagined places that
flip between the sublime and the personal.
I am a multidisciplinary artist. I create site specific installations, sculptures, abstract paintings
and performance. I was born and grew up in Japan, moved to New York in 2000. Currently I work
in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
