In the series, "Runaways," a female protagonist goes on adventures accompanied by various
animal companions. The work conjures a picaresque sprit familiar from adventure stories in which
a heroine navigates an exotic and unfamiliar world.
Memories are not crisp and clear. Only certain elements are focused, some may be glamorized
and embellished like a good story. The intersecting of reality and fiction is reflected through my
application of materials.
I employ traditional lace making to render protective structures laced from thread and rope; as well as unconventional embroidery to create works on paper representing interior spaces and the outdoor paths leading to those spaces.
I am a multi-disciplinary artist creating socially minded projects that are deeply personal and
anthropologically rich. My projects work to foster connections between viewers and community
members, and to encourage dialogue.
