I am a multi-disciplinary artist creating socially minded projects that are deeply personal and
anthropologically rich. My projects work to foster connections between viewers and community
members, and to encourage dialogue.
My work transforms the human body into a magical realist vessel for embodying archetypes of death, desire and our collective unconscious –those very things that make us most human and most enigmatic.
From the very beginning of his career, Angelo Bellobono has always placed humanity and the territory at the centre of his artistic research, stressing the difficult relations of belonging and identity, understood not simply in the socio-cultural sense but
Intaglios, collagraphs, monotypes printed on delicate Japanese papers, collaged over my own artist-
made papers are one aspect of my work; there are also mixed-media collages using colored pencils
over colored inks, and other materials.
I accumulate discarded objects and nontraditional materials, transforming them through painstaking methods into sculptures and installations. Both material and process are significant to the content of my work.
