My artistic practice bridges the perception between painting and photography, exploring reality
and constructed illusions. The works I have created and exhibited throughout Southeast Asia
are photomontages printed on fabric
My work explores the relationships between what we see and the interior, non-visible experiences
we feel. Transformation is a central theme in my work - transformation across mediums and from
2D to spatial concerns.
Ilana H-B is an interdisciplinary artist born in Brooklyn, NY. She received a BA in Art at Yale, and
is a 2016 MFA at Columbia University. She creates work that explores relationships between
surface, humor, failure, & individuation.
My interdisciplinary practice explores natural systems of the body/its environment and how this is subjectively translated through our senses, employing a wide variety of techniques and materials ranging from X-rays to ice to paint.
