I create photo-based images that portray contorted nude body parts, juxtaposed with
ordinary yet highly stylized props. Using color as my narrative, I take the viewer on an eerie
trip through staged, fairytale crime scenes.
I make videos, performances, and drawings inspired by popular film genres like horror and
romance. Supernatural themes and cautionary tales are central to recent projects, with bare
narratives, majestic landscapes, and horror archetypes.
My work explores the storage and transmission of memory, myth and experience. Iím interested in
mapping our very human engagement with the intersections of real and imagined experience
using performance, video, sculpture and installation.
Lawrence Mesich's media work explores moments when bodies and buildings intersect, and their
political and social effects. He uses corporate aesthetics and dry wit to frame these subjects as
both singular entities and complex systems.
