Spanning painting, printmaking, collage and sculpture, my work has been largely devoted to
elements from each into cohesive entities exploring physical growth, deterioration and decay,
spiritual cycles, and celebration.
The Contortions series has its roots in process in an investigation of what paint can do physically.
After multiple layers of acrylics are methodically applied to a support, these slabs are pulled up,
sliced, carved, and/or peeled.
My work deals with markmaking in the physical and metaphysical sense. Marks are evidence that
a thinking being had been there. Much like the marks on them, my paintings become placeholder
in the physical space and the societal construct.
